Owl Prowl @ Sarah Bishop Preserve
Description
Join bird enthusiast Tommy McCarthy and Ridgefield Conservation Commission members for an evening walk at the Sarah Bishop preserve in Ridgefield to learn about and listen for some of the eight owl species which can be found in our state. Late fall is a great time to look for owls, as the young ones born during the past season disperse, learn to live independently, and establish their own territories. We will delve into the lives of these secretive and beautiful animals by learning about the sounds they make, the habitat they prefer, and the signs they leave behind as they hunt.
Bring your binoculars if you’d like to test their low-light performance, but they will not be necessary. You may also bring a light, though we will be trying to let our eyes adjust for the majority of the walk.
This event is being run in partnership with the Ridgefield Conservation Commission.
